PHOTO OF THE WEEK!   DAN FITZGERALD RACING!

My dad and me pose for a post-race photo after he won a trophy dash at Craig Road Speedway.   I can only guess that the photo was taken in the late 70's.   '77,'78,'79.   Do I still look the same??  haha

Entering the town of Austin, NV. on Hwy 50.  Highway 50 is known as the loneliest road in America!

With the inscription of "You'll always be a winner if you lead with your heart.  God Bless you, Grammy," I was stunned to see the drawing given to me in the pits at Winnemucca Regional Raceway on Friday.    Reylene and Grammy have been fans for a while and have given me some other cool gifts after winning races in 2006.   While I couldn't scan the entire image, the bulk of it is here.   I should have thanked her for making me look both younger and thinner!   haha.   I'm speechless, it's awesome!

While hitting the outskirts of Winnemucca, NV on Sunday we took a double take here!    HOLY COW, who changed the rules at this place??    Would the Subway inside be worth the numbers on the sign??

In 2006 the town of Elko, NV went all out to raise money for my team to attend the IMCA Supernationals in Boone, IA.   One Saturday before a race at Summit Raceway they organized a car wash and all the proceeds went to the team for travel expenses.   I, of course, was there scrubbing cars as was many, many wonderful people.   All said and done a total close to $2500 was raised for the trip.    To this day I am still amazed that the town and it's people did so much for our team.   Thanks Elko, Nevada!

While racing at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, AZ one winter, I couldn't resist taking a photo of their "lost and found" section!   The series is many races over a two week period and involved modifieds and late models.   It's a great show!   But it looks like many drivers have "lost" a few things during the series.   Maybe someone should come collect their stuff!   haha

"Blake's the Bomb" it says on the side of his box.   It seems as if the mohawk is the hot ticket item for box racers as kids at both tracks have sported those "do's" to victory!    Thanks to Joe Barboza for the photo!

With my friends in Iowa trying to avoid floods and bailing water out of their basements, I decided that this would be a fitting Photo of the Week.   We arrived in Alamosa, CO last year to this mess in the parking lot.   We had to pull up to a stairway landing and hand our luggage to the manager.   I had to wade in thigh-high water to get our things out of the trailer.   Still raced the next two days though!   Got a win and a runner-up!

What is she doing calling MY house during the day??   LOL, I couldn't stop laughing when I checked the caller ID for called at my house today after work.   I love it!

NOW and THEN!   Now, a photo from the night we retired the 36N number with a victory at Mohave Valley Raceway and then  a photo from my 1997 rookie season in IMCA modifieds.   YIKES!   The years have taken their toll.

By winning the Spring Nationals at Mohave Valley Raceway recently I was placed back onto the IMCA All-Star Invitational Ballot.   I was actually voted in last season but was unable to attend the race.   I last raced the event in 2006.   As we stood in the infield I can remember how intimidating it was looking up and seeing the people crowding the catwalk in anticipation of the event.    It was a special moment.  Here's a photo of just a few of the fans.

.....and we have liftoff!    The "great white" debuted at Mohave Valley Raceway in 2006 with the left front high in the air.    I had a heck of a time trying to calm it down, but did manage to.   The great white only raced a couple of times in 2006 but was changed black and then again to blue in 2007.   It is currently the blue, red, and yellow car that ran the 36N for the early part of the year.   While it is not easy to drive like that, the photo sure looks cool!   The photo was taken by Curtis Pilgreen.

This photo was taken soon after winning my first ever feature on the pavement at LVMS.   It was my 2nd main event start ever in the Grand American Modifieds as I had run 6th in the first of two features that night.   The newspaper did an article on us as I had won features on both the dirt 1/2 mile and paved 3/8 that season.   The photo is of me and my dad in the driveway of his house.   Late 2000.  The URE modified built by Chuck Wahl is, to this day, my most favorite of all my race cars.   It was simply beautiful and ran incredibly well.

Can't help but laugh a little at this photo!   In 2004 I caught a rut, got a shove from behind and wound up on my lid off turn 2 at Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, AZ.   The photographer got a great shot which summed up my thoughts at that point.   "Uhhhh, what are we going to do now?"   We wound up fixing the car and I narrowly made it out in time to tag my B-main where I would work my way into the top 10 before catching a rut and flying off turn 2 AGAIN!   I  got back on the track a lap down and still finished the race.
