SLEEP IS OVER-RATED! |
Thursday: Headed out
to the dirt track at LVMS for the Sprint Car and Dirt Late Model action.
Track prep prevented the races from starting on time but we did last until
the B features began at 10:00pm. Everyone had to work on Friday
so we headed out and checked the results online the next day.
Friday: Sat in traffic for over an hour trying to get into the
dirt track. Once there we were treated to some awesome action!
Really enjoyed taking in the action, however we weren't home until midnight
and not in bed until about 1:00am.
Saturday: Up and at 'em by 7:00am and off to the big 1.5 mile track at
LVMS. Infield parking is a blessing as we breezed right in.
Entered the Neon Garage where teams are almost in a fishbowl with fans able
to look at them through windows from ground level and from above.
Took a walk through the tunnel over to the main grandstand to check out some
souvenirs before heading back to the infield. About noon we
headed home to ready for the trip to Mohave. Won the main
event at Mohave and was home by midnight. Up and at 'em early
and out to the track by 9:00am.
Sunday: At the track we used our "Garage Walk-Through" passes
and got to see many famous faces among the crowd. We also had
access to the media center but didn't realize how GREAT that would be until
we figured out the driver's meeting was about to start in there.
We parked ourselves outside the entry doors and caught the last few drivers
heading into the room. Hamlin, Johnson, Petty, Gordon, Hornish,
Labonte, just to name a few. I felt like a paparazzo
snapping shots as fast as I could. It was great I was standing
in a hallway and they were within feet of me as they entered the room.
Camped out until the meeting was over and again snapped shots as fast as I
could trying to get them coming out of the room. On the
exit I was able to see both Buschs, Stewart, Edwards, Newman, and a few
others as well. It was great!! Just before the race
we got to watch the 83 Red Bull over the wall crew warm up. They
did a series of exercises aimed at stretching. It was neat to
see how dedicated they are to their profession. |
