THE NICEST THING EVER DONE FOR ME!
The 2006 season has been an amazing one but this last weekend topped it off in outstanding fashion.   On Thursday before heading up to Elko I was asked if I could bring my car up early to have it on display at a car wash.   Not too bad, I could do that.   But when I heard that the car wash was being put on by the people of Elko to help send our team to the Super Nationals, I was dumbfounded.   At a total loss for words.   Didn't know what to say, didn't know what to do, and didn't know why I was deserving of such a kind gesture.   Seems like fellow Summit Raceway competitor George Quintana came up with the idea, pitched it to a few instrumental people and boy did it come to fruition.   Did it ever!

Arrived at the Nevada Auto Spa location around 8:15 and unloaded the car.   There we were met by the ladies in charge and their young children.   They already had signs made, towels donated and buckets filled with soapy water waiting for cars to show.    Our first car arrived around 8:45, followed by a motorcycle and we all jumped right in getting things sudsy.  Not too long after Keith showed up, followed by Andy and his family.   Andy arranged a brief phone interview with the local radio station KRJC and within minutes the line was backing up with people waiting to have their cars washed.   Some people didn't even want a wash, they instead opened their wallets, made a donation and headed down the road.   Back to washing, I found t times I didn't even know what was going on as everyone was so busy washing, drying, and directing cars.   I had a hard time believing that it was all for me and my team.

When it was all said and done, this group of volunteers, friends, family, and youngsters had washed well over 30 cars and braved the 90+ degree temperatures for over 4 hours.   As we settled down for pizza around 12:45 the donations were counted and the grand total was $711.   All to us for Boone gas money.   That's not even 1/2 the story however, as raffle tickets are being sold through the next two weeks to win two typed pages worth of prizes which were donated by local businesses.   The sale of raffle tickets on Saturday night during the races brought the total up to $1021!   Can you believe this??!   I can't and will be forever indebted to the amazing people of Elko!   You are all truly amazing.    Check them out in the gallery below!
